Tax assistance fees and what affects your quotation

We do not publish a fixed price list, because every SARS matter is shaped by its own facts. Instead, fees are agreed in a written quotation after the initial scoping - never before you know what the work involves. This page explains the factors that shape a quotation and what is, and is not, covered.

No upfront price list, no success fee, no free-work promise

We will not quote a figure before the matter is scoped, charge a percentage of any refund or reduction, or advertise a free service we have not confirmed. Any fee you see published elsewhere is not ours. The only figure that binds us is the one in your written quotation.

What affects your quotation

The scoping factors we weigh

These are the factors considered when a quotation is prepared. You do not need to resolve all of them yourself - the assessment helps us establish them together.

Tax types involved

Whether the matter spans income tax, VAT, PAYE/UIF or a combination. Multiple tax types generally require more reconciliation work.

Number of years or periods

A single outstanding assessment is scoped differently from several years of unfiled returns or repeated penalty cycles.

Records available

Whether source documents, prior returns and a current statement of account are already to hand, or must be reconstructed.

Active notices & deadlines

A live Final Demand, third-party appointment or audit notification adds urgency and procedural steps that shape the scope.

Complexity of the dispute

Whether the matter needs an objection, a suspension of payment request, a compromise application, or a structured deferral.

Resolution pathway

The procedural route SARS requires - and how many submission and follow-up cycles are realistically involved.

Inclusions & exclusions

What a quotation covers - and what it does not

This general guide sets out the factors that shape a quotation and what it does and does not cover. The written quotation you receive is always the authoritative version.

Typically included in a quotation

  • Scoping the SARS matter and confirming the procedural options that may apply.
  • Preparing the agreed submission, objection or application pack.
  • Liaising with the relevant SARS unit and tracking the case to a formal response.
  • Keeping you updated on progress and explaining SARS correspondence as it arises.

Not included in our fee

  • The tax itself, interest, penalties or any amount payable to SARS - these remain your liability to SARS.
  • Independent legal, accounting or audit work we may recommend you obtain separately.
  • Work outside the written scope, which is always quoted separately before it begins.
  • A guaranteed outcome, refund or reduction - SARS alone decides your matter.
SARS payments are separate. Any tax, interest or penalty owed to SARS is paid directly to SARS and is never part of our fee. We do not collect or hold SARS payments on your behalf.
Process & limits

How a quotation is reached

  1. 1

    Confidential assessment

You share the high-level category of your SARS matter and a preferred contact method. No documents or passwords are required at this stage.

  2. 2

    Scoping conversation

We confirm the tax types, periods, notices and complexity involved, and whether the matter falls within our confirmed service scope.

  3. 3

    Written quotation

You receive a written quotation setting out the scope, milestones and fee. No work begins until you review and approve it.

  4. 4

    Engagement

Only after approval do we request documents and representative authority. Anything outside the agreed scope is quoted separately beforehand.

Questions about fees

How are fees determined?

Fees reflect the scope of work required for your specific matter - the tax types, number of periods, available records, active notices and the complexity of the dispute pathway. Because these differ for every taxpayer, we quote in writing after scoping rather than publishing a fixed price list.

Is the initial assessment free?

We do not advertise the assessment as a free or guaranteed service. No fee is payable unless you review and approve a written quotation - the initial enquiry carries no obligation to engage. Please confirm any assessment or consultation fee before proceeding.

Are SARS payments included in your fee?

No. Our fee covers the advisory and submission work agreed in the quotation. Any tax, interest or penalty owed is paid directly to SARS and is entirely separate. We never collect or hold amounts due to SARS. See how it works for where fees sit in the engagement timeline.
